In a nutshell, your default fund is the fund into which you pay your employees’ Super Guarantee (SG) contributions if they don’t already have a fund of their own.
If you’re in an industry with a Modern Award1 , there will be a default fund specified for you in that award. If you’re not sure, do a quick check with the Industry Super's Default Fund Finder to find the industry fund/s listed in your industry's Modern Award.
