Bruce Smethurst

Bruce Smethurst Bruce originally joined Hostplus in 2007 as the Executive Manager, Human Resources and held that role until his retirement in December 2013. He was re-employed in July 2016 in the capacity of Group Executive, People, Performance and Culture as the parental leave replacement for the incumbent, Natalie Strickland . Bruce brings to the fund a wealth of knowledge and expertise in the human resources discipline in areas such as people, culture and performance, with over 45 years’ experience in a diverse range of key advisory roles.

Bruce and his team are responsible for driving, implementing and managing the People, Performance and Culture strategy of the fund. This includes recruitment, performance, payroll, culture, learning and development, health, safety and wellbeing.

Bruce is passionate about providing employees at Hostplus with the opportunity to fulfil their full potential and to have a positive employment experience. He also enjoys supporting leaders with delivering superior performance for the fund.
