Despite falling share markets, Hostplus’ Self-Managed Invest (SMI) Balanced option delivered a small positive return of 0.35% for the quarter, thanks in part to its diversified investment strategy.
Recent market volatility is being driven by US tariffs and escalating trade tensions, against a backdrop of inflation and geopolitical conflicts.

Hostplus' other SMI investment options delivered mixed returns over the quarter, though nine out of ten are in positive territory over the past 12 months.
Over the longer term, SMI balanced options with longer histories have generated positive returns over 5 and 7 years, as shown below.
