Phone-based super advice

Chat over the phone with our super advisers to discuss your Hostplus account at a time that suits you. Get personal advice to understand how boosting your super through additional contributions and choosing the right investments can make a significant difference to your retirement. You can also get help with choosing the right insurance options. These services are provided at no additional cost to members. Our advisers can also provide advice, for a fee, on consolidating your super, insurance outside your Hostplus account, or to see how you can use the First Home Super Saver Scheme (FHSSS).

Comprehensive face to face financial planning

At Hostplus, we have qualified financial planners with specialist knowledge who are passionate about helping you achieve the retirement you want. They can help set you on the path to a better financial future by considering your overall financial situation. They can also provide options to transition from work to the retirement phase, create an income in retirement, look at aged care options and advise on Centrelink’s Home Equity Access Scheme.

Our flexible pricing structure, which starts at $295,* gives you more control. You can decide if you’d like to pay more to receive tailored  comprehensive financial advice, with fees payable as you go.

*If you proceed to receive full comprehensive financial advice, which will include a tailored comprehensive Statement of Advice, additional fees will be payable. Depending on your needs, these fees will generally range between $1,500 and $4,000.

At Hostplus, we have teams of advisers and planners ready to provide members with advice and assistance. But what’s the difference between the two services?

Included in your member benefits, personal advice can be provided over the phone and via video conference through our Superannuation Advisers. Our Superannuation Advisers aim to empower and help you understand the basics of your Hostplus super account. Making small changes today could make a big difference at retirement and our Superannuation Advisers can help with a range of limited personal advice, including:

  • Choosing investment options: We'll ask you a few simple questions to help guide which investment option is best suited for you.
  • Boosting your super through additional contributions: If you've got surplus income, received a payrise at work or just received an inheritance, these additional contributions could work harder for you in your Hostplus super account. Even the smallest of contributions now can have a significant impact in retirement, plus you could save tax along the way.
  • Insurance: You protect your car, house, pets and more – why not protect yourself and your assets?

For a fee, our Superannuation Advisers can also help you with:

  • Insurance outside your Hostplus account: We can help ensure that you’re not doubling up on insurance cover held, including comparing your external insurance policy with Hostplus.
  • Consolidating your super: We can help to streamline your super with advice on consolidating multiple super accounts into one.
  • First Home Super Saver Scheme (FHSSS): Dreaming of home ownership? We can help you use the government’s FHSSS to purchase your first home.

At Hostplus, our qualified financial planners specialise in retirement planning tailored to your personal situation. This may relate to your Hostplus super, but can also take into account other assets, investments and debts outside of Hostplus.

Our financial planners can help you with:

  • Superannuation: Providing advice on how much you’ll need during retirement to live the lifestyle you want, as well advice about contributions and investment allocation.
  • Retirement planning: Developing tax-effective strategies, including how you might transition to retirement.
  • Wealth creation: Building wealth through super, as well as via investments outside of super.
  • Retirement budgeting: Maintaining required cashflow, income and debt management.
  • Government benefits: Taking advantage of any government benefits, such as Centrelink entitlements.
  • Insurance: Getting the right insurance for your life stage to protect yourself and your loved ones.
  • Estate planning: Ensuring your money goes where you intend when you die.
  • Aged Care: Considering aged care options for yourself or a loved one.
  • Downsizer contributions: Helping you to contribute to super through downsizing your home.
  • Centrelink Home Access Equity Scheme: Using equity in your home to provide income.

There is no additional charge for tailored advice* provided by SuperSmart, or from our superannuation advisers. However, the advice you receive is limited to contributions, insurance and investment options relating to your Hostplus account. For all other personal advice, including retirement, advice fees are payable.

*Members with Term Allocated Pension, Lifetime Pension, Defined Benefit Pension, nil balances, non-standard investment options and some Maritime Contributory Accumulation members cannot access SuperSmart financial advice services.
