What would happen if you died or were unable to work because of illness or injury? Would you and your family be able to manage financially?
While it’s important to consider your individual situation, insurance might be the safety net you need if, for example:
Subject to eligibility, insurance can give you financial security through tough times, helping to cover everyday essentials, debts, medical bills and more. If the unthinkable were to happen, having the right insurance in place can give you the peace of mind that you and your loved ones are protected.
We make insurance easy:
Everyone’s different. To find the right insurance for you – and the right level of cover – you’ll need to think about your specific financial situation, needs and objectives, including your budget.
Plan for the unexpected. Take care of your loved ones if you die or suffer a severe accident or illness.
If you temporarily can’t work due to illness or injury, Income Protection insurance is designed to provide regular monthly payments to help you meet your living expenses until you can return to work.
If your super account balance is at least $6,000, you’re aged at least 25 years and you’ve received contributions in the last 16 months, you’ll receive automatic Death and TPD cover. Most members can opt in to automatic cover, even if they don’t meet these criteria. However, if you’ve joined online you’re considered a Personal Super member – and under this membership some occupations are ineligible for automatic cover.
If you have automatic Death and TPD cover, the amount of cover you receive will depend on your age. You can find the levels of cover and costs in the Product Disclosure Statement (PDS). The automatic level of cover is designed to provide a safety net for a typical Hostplus member, but it’s important that you assess your own situation and decide whether the level of cover is right for you.
If you’re a member, you can log in to Member Online to see your current insurance cover or to find out what insurance you may be eligible to opt in to.
