The Epic Retirement Tick is designed to help Australians assess their fund’s retirement readiness.

Hostplus is one of only six funds to have met the criteria and receive the Epic Retirement Tick.

The Epic Retirement Tick is a new recognition for funds that meet a high standard across the key retirement criteria.

This demonstrates our commitment to helping members achieve a secure retirement.  

Funds need to meet 12 of the 18 criteria to receive the Tick.

Hostplus is proud to be among the first funds to have earned the Epic Retirement Tick. You can be confident that Hostplus is dedicated to supporting your retirement goals, today and into the future. 

The Epic Retirement Tick assesses funds against 18 key criteria:

1. Balanced investment performance above the median over 10 years

Investment performance for balanced (50/50) option above the median over 10 years

2. Growth investment performance above the median over 10 years

Investment performance for growth (70/30) options above the median over 10 years.

3. Tailored pension portfolios

A pension option specifically designed for pension members to balance their income needs with capital protection and tax efficiency. 

4. Low admin fees

At least 3 of 5 various account sizes of $100k, $250K, $500k, $750k and $1M with administration fees below the median. 

5. Lifetime income products

An income-for-life product to help members manage the risks of outliving their money and boosting their overall income.

6. Flexible drawdown strategies

Helping members understand the impact of drawdowns and providing the flexibility to pull income from different investment options.

7. Intra-fund advice

Providing superannuation advice for little or no cost to help members optimise their insurance, contributions and investments within the fund. 

8. Simple retirement planning

Providing access to simple, low or no-cost financial planning to support members in retirement. 

9. Simple household retirement planning

Providing simple, low or no-cost financial advice that considers the member's partners as well, so you can plan together.

10. Comprehensive advice referrals

Providing referrals to a comprehensive financial advice service, that includes super, other investments, estate planning, and aged care.

11. Retirement calculators and budgeting tools

The provision of retirement calculators and other tools to help members plan the life they want to live.

12. Digital retirement advice

Personalised guidance via a digital advice tool, including drawdown rate and investment mix recommendations, and Age Pension estimates. 

13. Retirement-focused nudges

Nudging members across age stages with retirement projections on statements, targeted emails about boosting contributions, or prompts to attend seminars. 

14. Retirement education programs

Providing guidance to become retirement-ready that is easy to access and understandable via website, retirement webinars, in-person seminars, or structured online courses.

15. Service levels

The speed to set up, switch, or adjust members’ accounts and the availability of online self-service options. 

16. Retirement bonuses or top performance

A retirement bonus that could be added to a members’ opening balance if they start a pension account, provided specific eligibility criteria is met.

17. Contact centre service

Providing quick, clear answers to member questions, from someone who has deep super knowledge. 

18. Efficiency of pension payments

The time taken from request to payment, the provision of an OSKO payment facility, ad hoc payments and multi-factor authentication.
