Share markets rallied considerably over the 2023–24 financial year, driving positive returns for Hostplus pension members.

Excitement about artificial intelligence drove these strong returns, particularly for the large tech companies. This optimism outweighed market worries about high interest rates and inflation.

Over the year, all Hostplus’ pre-mixed investment options delivered positive returns for pension members to 30 June 2024.

Hostplus’ Balanced option is a top performer over 10 years.

Our Balanced option - the most popular option for Hostplus pension members1, returned 8.35%.  Our other pre-mixed options all delivered positive returns as well. Our Indexed Balanced option returned 13.47%, making it the top-performing balanced option in Australia, according to SuperRatings.2

Both our Balanced and our Indexed Balanced options continue to perform exceptionally well over the long term, outperforming the average (median) of other funds' balanced options over 3, 5, 7 and 10 years, according to SuperRatings.2

These great long-term results show that our investment strategy is working hard for our pension members. That’s a plus.
