This update details changes to the investment menu including changes to the design of the Hostplus Life option, changes to the names of selected options and the closure of two options, which will become effective from 30 September 2025.
We are changing the name of Hostplus Life option to Lifecycle and simplifying the design of the option.
The Lifecycle option will continue to offer members the same, hands-off investment strategy that aims to grow your super faster when you are younger and to protect your balance as you approach retirement. The new design will use a simpler three-stage approach that is based on your age:

Compared to the current design, the new design extends exposure towards growth assets, like Australian and International shares, by 10 years. Our modelling shows that this could deliver better results for members at retirement - a higher balance at retirement and more income during retirement.
For members aged 40 and over who are invested in the Lifecycle option, there will be a change to their investment fees and level of risk. Members aged over 50 years will pay higher investment fees under the new design. Members can read about what the changes mean for them here.

Note:
1. Members who are turning 40, 50 or 60 between now and 30 September 2025, will first be moved to the next investment option under the current design on their birthday. Then on 30 September 2025, they will be moved to the investment option for their life-stage under the new design
2. Members invested in the option who are aged 50 and over will pay a higher investment fee under the new design
3. Both the Balanced and Growth options are rated as medium to high risk under the Standard Risk Measure (SRM). However, the Growth option comprises 90% growth assets while the Balanced option comprises only 76%.
4. Hostplus doesn’t charge a separate investment fee for the Lifecycle option. Instead, the fee depends on the investment option you are invested in based on your life-stage.
5. Stable and Conservative are the new names for the Capital Stable and Conservative Balanced options respectively (refer to section below).
We are changing the names of selected investment options to provide our members with greater clarity of their investment choices. Following feedback and research, we are changing the names of certain options as tabled below:

The intent behind these changes is to reduce confusion of our options by using labels that use less jargon and easier for members to understand.
We regularly review our investment options to make sure they’re working in our members’ best interests. A recent review showed lower take-up of two sector options that provide narrow exposure to the international shares asset class. Consequently, we will be closing two of our investment options:
Members who are invested in these options can switch out these options before 4pm on 26 September 2025. Any members still invested in these options will be automatically transferred to an alternate option on 30 September 2025 as tabled below.
