The financial year ending 30 June 2023 was a bit of a bumpy ride in investments. Hostplus remained steadfast through the ups and downs, though. We delivered 7.99% for the SMI Balanced option in the 12 months though to 30 June.1 That’s a plus.

Optimistic outlook drives a healthy return

After the market volatility of 2022, share markets proved more resilient in the first half of 2023. This suggests that despite multiple increases to interest rates and concerns about the cost of living, investors are optimistic about inflation from here on in. This was the driving force behind this year’s healthy return.
